Taylor Swift

Once upon a time, I was watching CMT, when I saw this video:

It's by Taylor Swift, one of my favorite artists, and it has an identical plot line to PRADA & PREJUDICE. Blonde high school girl ends up back in time, wears gorgeous dresses, dances choreographed dances with a maddeningly handsome guy with dark hair, tall leather boots, intense eyes, white cravat, etc.

Ever since I saw that video, I've pondered how to share my book with Taylor. It seems only fair-- she gave me a video of my book, so I should give her a book of her video.  Of course, she's a mega-star, and I'm just a debut author.

When I scored tickets to her concert, I emailed one of the local radio stations and asked if they could help me out. They, amazingly, offered to take my book and hand it to her before the concert.

And they did! On Friday, Taylor Swift was holding PRADA & PREJUDICE, saying that she was excited to read it. After all it has taken to get to this point-- the rejection, the revising, the reWRITING-- one of the coolest things EVER happened becuase I stuck with it through all the months and all the rejections. I feel kinda weird and fangirly about it (I'm not the type to read US weekly or anything...) but Taylor is so damn talented, I can't help but admire her.

What a crazy, crazy trip this has been since I first wrote PRADA & PREJUDICE!

Love that video. And that song. Not the remix, the album version.

I'm excited that you managed to get a copy to her. How fun!

That is dang cool! I, too, am excited to read your book. Even my husband (who now is forced to stare at the postcard you mailed me because it is prominently displayed on my fridge) has been plugging your book at work.

completely, totally amazing. Best. Concert. Ever. We had great seats, and then she ended up going into the audience for a few songs and when she walked by, she shook my hand. And then on top of that, towarrd the end I went up by the pit and talked to a security guard, and he gave me a pit bracelet and I got to go up to where I was touching the stage during the last three songs.

The crazy thing is that the place holds 12,000 people. And I kept stopping and spinning around and takin gin just how many people 12,000 is, and raelizing that to be considered a success, more people than that need to read my book. It's really awe-inspiring.

That sounds crap-your-pants inspiring to me, har har ;)
But could you imagine if you had to physically face all those people and read in front of them? I'm always in awe of performers. At least we can hide in our rooms.

Yeah, it is kind of scary inspiring.... I mean, we'll only ever see small stacks of our books in a single store. it's not like we visit the printer and see thousands of them rolling off! It's really hard to imagine that many teens holding my book or bending the corners or curling up with it.

It's just so freaking exciting, right now!

god, I wish!! I would KILL for a picture of her with my book. I heard through a DJ and also the director of the station (KMPS) that she received it, and what she said.

She also said thank you and good luck with my book/future writing! :-) That's as good as magic fairy dust, right?

Sadly, I don't have a picture!! It was handed to her by KMPS, a local radio station. They had a few minutse prior to the concert to meet with her.

Kate at Read This Book!
Oh my gosh that's fantastic! =) Do you have any video or anything of Taylor saying she was excited to read it? Which concert was it? I might try to search on YouTube or something.

Eeee! This is beyond cool!

Re: Kate at Read This Book!
Unfortunately, no! The Seattle radio stations got to meet with her for 10-15 minutes prior to her concert, and that was when they gave it to her.

But really, how exciting! And ... amazing! I'm so happy for you. Probably happier than I should be. xD
